Live Johansson

Norwegian-born and Copenhagen-based, Live Johansson is a soloist who refuses to be boxed in. With a cello in hand and a visionary approach to arrangement, Live has crafted a career that is as ambitious as it is diverse.

A graduate of the Royal Danish Academy of Music with further studies in Chicago, Trondheim and Zagreb, Live’s technical foundation is world-class. Her 2020 solo debut tour perfectly mirrored her artistic DNA: a seamless blend of Bach and Rachmaninov alongside her own contemporary arrangements of artists like Soleima and Søren Huss.

Whether performing for H.M. The Queen of Denmark or sharing the stage with global icons like Queens of the Stone Age, Eminem and Kaizers Orchestra, Live brings a unique, soulful presence to every setting. Her solo work is an invitation to explore the cello’s full potential—from intimate chamber music and dramatic theatrical concerts like Marie & Carl to cutting-edge pop collaborations.

Dynamic, evocative, and profoundly personal. Live performs classical solo concerts and is a frequent face on Danish television, appearing on X Factor and alongside well-established Danish artists.

Live Johansson is the founder and creative director of LiveStrings & she plays on a cello from 1750.
